Amidst a global health crisis, such as the COVID-19 pandemic tragedy that occurred several years ago, CHWs have played a crucial role in controlling community-based outbreaks, thereby strengthening the public health emergency response while facing numerous challenges. This study explores the motivations and challenges CHWs face in managing health crises. Employing a descriptive phenomenological approach, this study conducted semi-structured in-depth interviews with 13 CHWs in Makassar City, selected through purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis via the Colaizzi method. Thematic analysis revealed three main themes and seven sub-themes, encapsulating factors of social needs and expanded health perspectives as motivational elements alongside challenges such as the prevailing negative paradigm regarding the health crisis. CHWs are instrumental in spearheading community-based activities to manage health crises. CHW training programs, facilitated by community nurses, can significantly improve their performance and impact within the community.
Syamikar Baridwan Syamsir, Agus Setiawan, Henny Permatasari, Heru Supriyatno, Bani Bacan Hacantya Yudanagara, Nrul Huda Copyright (c) 2025 Syamikar Baridwan Syamsir, Agus Setiawan, Henny Permatasari, Heru Supriyatno, Bani Bacan Hacantya Yudanagara https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 http://103.133.36.92/index.php/woh/article/view/2391 Sat, 19 Apr 2025 10:02:14 +0000 Data-Based Evidence on the Causality Model of Social Stigma on Medication Compliance in Leprosy Patients in Bone District, Indonesia http://103.133.36.92/index.php/woh/article/view/2604
Leprosy is an infectious disease and can cause stigma from society. One thing that is important to do to reduce the stigma felt by leprosy sufferers is to obediently take medication. This study aims to determine the relationship between stigma and adherence to taking medication on covariate variables in leprosy patients in Bone Regency. This quantitative study uses an observational analytical approach and a cross-sectional study. The analysis used was multivariate analysis with a causality model. The number of samples in this study was 92 respondents, taken using simple random sampling. The results of this study show that stigma in leprosy patients in Bone Regency is significantly related (ORa = 1.022, 95% CI = 0.306-3.416) to adherence to taking medication, which means 1.022 times more likely to experience non-adherence in taking medication, controlling for gender and side effects of medication. There needs to be preventive efforts through early detection and health education related to leprosy given to patients, the patient's family, and the community, so that it can reduce the stigma experienced by patients and increase compliance with taking medication.

Bs. Efforts to overcome back pain in postpartum women include the use of compresses. One of the non-pharmacological interventions employed is using herbal compress balls, which have aromatherapeutic properties and facilitate heat conduction. This intervention aims to enhance local blood circulation in pain-affected regions. The study was to determine the effectiveness of herbal compress balls in reducing back pain in postpartum women. The measuring tool for assessing the pain scale is the NRS. The method of research is an experimental “one-group pre-post test design”. 96 respondents were selected via non-probability sampling in the form of an accidental sampling technique. Data analysis using the “Wilcoxon signed rank test”. The study showed a reduction in the back pain scale of postpartum women after the use of the herbal compress ball "p-value = 0.000 (p <0.05)". The herbal compress ball has been proven effective in overcoming back pain in postpartum women. It is hoped that further research can use methods comparing herbal compress balls with other intervention methods.
Deni Maryani, Dara Himalaya, Sri Nengsi Destriani Copyright (c) 2025 Deni Maryani, Dara Himalaya, Sri Nengsi Destriani https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 http://103.133.36.92/index.php/woh/article/view/1607 Thu, 24 Apr 2025 13:37:21 +0000
